Things that don't suck: 1/20/2009

I can't wait until this idiot is not our president any longer. Dubya signed a bill today that will essentially allow him to oversee the construction of a fence along the border. Some facts about this bold new project:

  • It's a 700 mile fence, on a 2100 mile border.
  • The "down payment" is $1.2 billion.
  • The president of the National Border Patrol Council, a union representing Border Patrol agents, said "A fence will slow people down by a minute or two, but if you don't have the agents to stop them it does no good. We're not talking about some impenetrable barrier."

So, we're building a chainlink fence that covers about 1/3 of the border, that for some ridiculous reason costs billions of dollars.

The only illegal immigrants we should concern ourselves with are militant Islamic terrorists in sleeper cells. How did we let this happen? Why is he our president?!

I am the last one to defend W, but I think it's important to realize that this kind of short-sighted, reactionary decision making is not isolated to one office. In fact,

"The Senate gave final approval last night to legislation authorizing the construction of 700 miles of double-layered fencing on the U.S.-Mexico border, shelving President Bush's vision of a comprehensive overhaul of U.S. immigration laws in favor of a vast barrier....

In Congress's rush to recess last night for the fall political campaigns, the fence bill passed easily, 80 to 19, with 26 Democrats joining 54 Republicans in support."

hahaha, you guys are insane! I love it, it's ignorant people like you guys that put a smile on my face everyday. Illegal immigration has become a major concern in the United States. Every day that this concern is overlooked, an estimated 822 more illegal aliens will have invaded the United States (CIS & CPS 2000). I bet you guys will tell awful stories about the countries these people have fled from; these stories are smoke and mirrors. These stories do not nullify the billions of taxpayers money expedited every year in compensating for these non-tax paying illegal inhabitants; nor the concerns of terrorism; these stories do not rid the possible health risks of diseases that had been nearly or entirely eradicated by the U.S. health systems, now entering through a medium of illegal immigration. The problem can be focused entirely on border control. If the United States developed this fence around its borders this crisis could indeed be resolved, stabilizing the population while making the United States a safer place to live. The fence may merely slow them down, but that's the idea. Along with the bill it calls for a doubling of border patrol; by May of 2007 the entire area must be monitored unmanned aerial vehicles, ground-based sensors, satellites, radar and cameras. And whoever said we should "concern ourselves with militant Islam terrorist" what do you think this is? Are you so oblivious? Have you even read the brief for the fence bill or just merely venting/throwing words out there? Homeland Security, in 2005 Border Patrol detained roughly 1.2 million illegal immigrants; of those 165 thousand were from nations other than Mexico. Of the non-Mexican aliens, “approximately 650 were from special interest countries.” Special interest countries are countries that have been “designated by the intelligence community as countries that could export individuals that could bring harm to our country in the way of terrorism”. This was ONE year and ONLY the people that were caught. So if you think that increasing border patrol by any means necessary is not important then maybe you should pack a bag and hunt these "Islam terrorist" yourself- I bet you're completely against the war too, type of person who can not be please and has an awful life at home. How's your life? Does your dinner at night consist of you constantly complaining about things you know nothing about... I bet you're major concern is expansion of welfare... here, check out the bill and become knowledgeable before you embarrass yourself anymore Border Report Democracy would work if no one was like you- for the sake of freedom, get smart.
