Things that suck: Early retirement

Poor Jeeves. He's been "Asked" to leave the premises at his former employer, Ask.com, effective immediately. I actually liked Jeeves - I thought it was cool to have a butler, see how the other half lives. I think he got sick of me calling him Alfred all the time, though.

Here's the story about Jeeves's retirement - I'm wondering what Ask.com is thinking - how dare they attempt to topple the mighty Googletron?

Does anyone not use Google as their first choice? It's great if someone does - it will be better for everyone in the long run. But it's not going to be me.

I never go to Google's site to start a search anyway - I'm always using the toolbar...another brilliant move by Googlesaurus Rex.

I never go to google.com either. I just type keywords directly into the address bar (an extremely convenient method which could be promoted by any search engine).

Here's an article on what other companies are doing to compete. It sounds like their focus is on user interaction, which doesn't matter at all to me. I just want results.
